Groups met on Monday evenings and Wednesday morning starting in late November to discuss The First Christmas and continued through Epiphany.
The First Christmas: What The Gospels Really Teach About Jesus’ Birth by Marcus J. Borg and John Dominic Crossan. These two authors show how history has biased our reading of the nativity story as it appears in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. They peel away the sentimentalism that has build up over the last two thousand years. The essence of this book asks the question: What do these birth stories mean in the context of the first century and the twenty-first century?
